Florida - Day One

Last Tuesday, Gammy D, Grant, Caroline and myself made our way to Florida! Brad was going out of town for the weekend, so we decided to get out of town too!  It was a fly by the edge your seat kind of trip.  Nothing really planned, no set schedule, just spending time with each other.  Gammy D promised Grant if he would use the big boy potty that she would take him to see Dinosaurs (Day 2)  That was our main reason to go to Florida, little did we know, we did so much more!!

The kids did AWESOME in the car, I was so impressed.  Thank goodness for portable DVD players and the movie CARS, I think we watched it a total of 5 times just on the way down.

We had many of potty stops, or as Grant says "pee-pee outside" stops.  Yes, he is still obsessed with using the bathroom outside :)

It took us about 8 hours to get to St. Augustine, pretty impressive with 2 kids under 2, I think!
We checked into our hotel and quickly headed out to the streets of St. Augustine.
First stop:
Dinner!
A sweet little girl was hungry, and she was making it known.

I have to tell you a funny story at dinner.. For some reason I always notice peoples expressions when they are seated next to us, especially if the are older.  It was 7 pm, both kids were cranky, hungry, and somehow had lots of energy from being in the car all day.
An older couple were seated next to us, after looking over and noticing we were just one clown short of a circus, they quickly asked the waiter to be seated outside (I am assuming, they did not want to watch my kids at their finest!)  Unfortunately, as they got up to walk out, they were informed the seat was already taken (ha!)
There the couple sat, and we still had a whole meal to eat.  Forks flying, food throwing (Grant), and full blown screaming attacks, like I said..nothing short of a circus, because we were the circus!!

The next day, we took a trolley ride around town, and at our 2nd stop, guess who we see?!? That's right, our best friends from dinner!!! They got on the trolley, just one seat in front of us (before they realized we were behind them.)  It didn't take long for them to notice, that..... we were backkkkk!  Not to my surprise, at the very next stop, they got off and got back on 5 seats in front of us!!!

I found it hilarious and had to share.  If you are a mom of young children, you so know what I am talking about here!! :)

After dinner, we took a stroll around St. Augustine to kill some time, and let Grant burn off energy (it did not work.)

I captured some of these pictures, I thought they turned out so pretty at Sunset!

We stopped an got Grant ice cream on St. George Street.  He enjoyed every bite.  Looking back, we now know that was a horrible idea.  Talk about a sleepless night..We went to bed around 10:30pm and we were all awaken by a extremely hyper 2 year old at 4:30am.

Lessons Learned!!
:)
